How Can You Benefit from Government Incentives?

The Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) is designed to make purchasing or leasing a new electric vehicle more affordable.

The incentive amount varies depending on the vehicle type and lease term:

For eligible transactions, the federal incentive is applied directly to the purchase or lease agreement by a participating dealership, in accordance with the program’s terms and conditions.

The Government of Canada’s Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) offers, in 2026, an incentive of up to $5,000 on the purchase or lease of an eligible new all-electric vehicle and up to $2,500 on an eligible new plug-in hybrid vehicle. Incentive amounts vary depending on the vehicle type and lease term. Lease agreements must have a minimum term of 12 months. For vehicles not manufactured in Canada, the final transaction value must not exceed $50,000, in accordance with program requirements. Eligibility depends on the vehicle model, trim level, transaction price, and compliance with all criteria established by Transport Canada. Incentives are subject to application approval and funding availability. The advertised incentive amounts represent the maximum amounts available for 2026 and may be modified by the government.
